Smollett’s Life Has Hit Rock Bottom

The verdict has finally come out on Jussie Smollett…

Lee Daniels, the co-creator of “Empire,” has confirmed that actor Jussie Smollett will not be on the show for its sixth and last season.

Daniels responded to an article in Variety which hinted that Smollett would continue in the last half of the sixth season. Daniels tweeted, “This is not factual. Jussie will NOT be returning to Empire.”

Recently, Fox stated that there were no plans to revive Jamal Lyon, the character Smollett played. The same time, a spokesperson for Smollett told Fox, “We’ve been told that Jussie will not be on Empire in the beginning of the season but he appreciates they have extended his contract to keep Jamal’s future open. Most importantly he is grateful to Fox and Empire leadership, cast, crew and fans for their unwavering support.”

Latest developments on the Smollett case came in late May, when a judge ruled in favor of media outlets requesting court documents and investigation records related to Smollett’s fake hate crime.
