During an interview with Lesley Stahl on CBS’s “60 Minutes,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi gave her real thoughts about the socialist lurkers in her party.
The truth came out when Stahl asked Pelosi if she thought she could unite the “self-described socialists” with the “moderates” of the House Democrats.
Initially Pelosi tried to claim that party members would set aside their differences saying, “By and large, whatever orientation they came to Congress with, they know that we have to hold the center. That we have to go down the mainstream.”
But Stahl wasn’t a believe admitting, “But it doesn’t look like that. It looks as if it’s fractured. You have these wings– AOC, and her group on one side.”
“That’s like five people,” Pelosi quickly cut in.
Pelosi continued push that the extreme views of the few were not shared by the many, adding that “socialism as an economic system” was “not the view of the Democratic Party.”
This isn’t the first time that Pelosi has spoken out against the radical movement that is growing beneath her leadership, she might want to consider treating the threat to her party more seriously rather than trying to dismiss it.
