At least five House committees have sent letters to the White House as Democrats attempt to force the Trump administration to release documentation over its refusal to protect Obamacare in court.
Democrats claim that the stance on Obamacare’s “sudden and significant reversal” goes against the federal government practice of defending its own legislation.
“The Department owes Congress and the public an explanation as to why it refuses to enforce the law,” a letter addressed to Attorney General Wiliam Barr read.
Among the demands being made are an explanation from the Department of Justice about the legal justification that led them to regard Obamacare as unconstitutional. They also requires a minimum of four DOJ attorneys be ready to testify.
Barr also commented on the issue during his testimony to Congress, slamming Democrats for making unnecessary demands. He posed that if there was foul play involved in the decision it would be exposed by due process.
“When we face a legal question, we try to base our answer on the law,” Barr explained during his Congressional hearing. “If you think it’s such an outrageous position, you have nothing to worry about. Let the courts do their job.”
All this noise boils down to Democrats throwing a fit as they watch the failed institutions of their favorite president make their way to the garbage bin.
