While many points of President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address were for both the Republican and Democratic parties to come together, there was at least one thing that was sure to rub Democrats the wrong way.
“We must reject the politics of revenge, resistance and retribution,” Trump proclaimed early in his speech.
This would be a small precursor to the declaration he would later make.
“An economic miracle is taking place in the United States — and the only thing that can stop it are foolish wars, politics or ridiculous partisan investigations,” Trump remarked. “If there is going to be peace and legislation, there cannot be war and investigation. It just doesn’t work that way!”
Democrats have relentlessly pursued investigations into Trump, his family and his business since he began contemplating a presidential bid. This constant bickering and backbiting has been stumbling point in Trump’s otherwise accomplished and progressive presidency.
